What we learned testing UV ink costs
The ink really is cheap. A full-color print with 2 white layers uses well under a penny of ink per square inch. Even a UV DTF sticker with 6 white, 1 color and 2 gloss varnish layers comes to about 1 to 2 cents per square inch.
White is the ink that matters most. It's usually the biggest ink cost on a print and the bottle you'll run out of first, especially on UV DTF stickers with heavy white layers.
Print quality barely changes the ink cost. High quality used about 20% more color ink than Fast, which was less than a fifth of a cent per piece. What it changes is time: High quality took about 70% longer to print.
What really sets the price of a UV print
If ink is only a few cents, what actually drives your cost? Your blank or material, your film or acrylic, and your time. A 2x2 UV DTF sticker on a $5.50 tumbler uses about 6 cents of ink. Add 5 minutes of labor at $20 an hour, and your cost is $7.23 per piece before any markup. At a 100% markup, that tumbler should sell for $14.46, not the $10 that might feel like plenty.
The free UV Printing Cost and Pricing Calculator
The free calculator is the quickest way to answer "what does this cost me?" Choose your printer, enter your design size and your color, white and varnish layers, and add what you pay for your blank. It shows your ink cost down to the square inch, your total cost per piece, a suggested selling price, and how many prints you'll get out of each bottle of ink.

The Advanced UV Printing Pricing Calculator
The free version uses one blank cost, plus a set labor rate and markup. The Advanced UV Printing Pricing Calculator is built for pricing real orders exactly.
You can add multiple materials and blanks, like acrylic sheets, A and B film, keyrings, tassels and packaging. For sheets and rolls, you enter the size and price, and the calculator works out how many pieces fit and what each one costs. It splits your real print time from your software across the whole order, adds your hands-on time at your own hourly rate, and applies your own markup. You can also add a bulk discount or rush fee. Then it tells you which cost is eating into your profit.
Here's a real example: 10 acrylic keychains at 2x2 inches, cut from a 12x12 clear acrylic sheet that costs $8, with a keyring and a tassel on each. The calculator fits 25 pieces on the sheet, so the acrylic comes to 32 cents per keychain. With 6 minutes of print time for the whole batch, 4 minutes of hands-on time per piece at $25 an hour, and a 100% markup, each keychain costs $2.61 to make and should sell for $5.21.
The ink on each keychain? Less than 2 cents. The biggest cost is the hands-on time, at 64% of the total. That's exactly the kind of thing that's easy to miss when you price from ink alone.

Tips for more accurate UV pricing
Match your layer counts to what's set in your printer software. In xTool Studio, you'll find them under Ink mode. White layers make the biggest difference to your ink cost.
Time yourself making one piece, start to finish. Prep, printing, applying, finishing and packing add up fast, and that number changes your price more than anything else.
If your numbers don't match your printer software, check whether the software is showing cost for the whole bed. Most do, while these calculators show cost per piece.
