Why UV Prints Are So Easy to Underprice
Most UV sellers check the ink cost in their printer software, see a few cents, and price from there. But ink is the smallest part of the story. The real cost of a UV print includes your blank or material, your film or acrylic, and your time to prep, print, apply and finish every piece.
A 2x2 UV DTF sticker on a $5.50 tumbler uses only about 6 cents of ink. Add 5 minutes of labor at $20 an hour, and you're at $7.23 cost per piece before any markup. Charging $10 might feel like a profit, but at a 100% markup that tumbler should sell for $14.46. This calculator does the math for you so you never undersell your work.
The numbers come straight from the calculator, so if someone tries that example they'll get the same result.
