Silhouette Studio V5 vs V4: Which One Should You Actually Use?

99% of Silhouette users shouldn't be on V5 - and most don't realize they have a choice.

Here's which version you actually need, and why V4 is still the one most users should be using.

If you recently updated to Silhouette Studio V5 - either because you intentionally updated or your software automatically updated - and things feel off - you're not imagining it. Most Silhouette users don't actually need V5.

In fact, only two specific Silhouette models absolutely require V5 - every other Silhouette owner, including anyone on a Cameo 3, Cameo 4, Portrait, Curio, and even most Cameo 5 users, can (and probably should) be on V4.

The problem is that when you land on the Silhouette America software download page, V5 is the current version. If you install it or if you have automatic updates toggled in your software settings, your software will have updated to V5.

The difference between the two versions matters. V4 is pretty stable and not nearly as buggy - plus most tutorials are based on V4. V5 is newer, less stable, and has some cosmetic changes that can cause confusion and just aren't as straight forward for users.

Let me put it to you this way - when I'm NOT creating V5 tutorials, and I'm using Silhouette Studio for myself, I always go with V4!

How do you go back to V4?

In this month's free video find out exactly how to go back to Silhouette Studio V4 from V5.
